Australia – a country located in the southern hemisphere, including the world's smallest continent, the island of Tasmania and the other much smaller islands in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. Australia at the surface is not adjacent to any country, but neighboring countries by sea from Australia to the north are: Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea in the northeast: Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia, south-east New Zealand.
This represents the sixth state in terms of surface area of the world.
Australia is a developed country with a multicultural society. In comparison with other countries Australia is listed highly when it comes to quality of life, health and average life expectancy.
This is one of the flattest continent, with an average height of 292 m. The area of desert occupies an area greater than any other continent, two-thirds of it is in dry or semi-arid climates.
